The blog has been a bit quiet for awhile but this month  but  I am trying to get back on track with a full schedule of posts to share with you all!

Family, Friends and BBQ…what can be better than that right? We are all busy, life gets in the way and sometimes its hard to make time for the special people in our lives. That’s why Alex and I started a tradition to make it happen, once a year with the annual Hog Roast. Bringing as many people as possible together to tend our relationships; to laugh with one another, to eat and drink with one another, to hug one another, to put down our phones and be fully present in the people that we are surrounded by. This year we rocked it out with a 50’s diner theme and welcomed 60 guests out to the country for an afternoon of fun, fellowship and of some awesome food. Check out a few detail shots from the day.

You can read about last years Hog Roast and the behind the scenes look at the day here. I would love to hear what traditions you have to maintain relationships with your friends and families. Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Fall is the time of year when grocery stores, farm stands and farmers markets begin to fill with squash, gourds and pumpkins. Most of the time when people think of pumpkins they think of traditional orange but today I wanted to share a few ideas incorporating white pumpkins into your decor. I love the look that occurs when white pumpkins are incorporated into event decor. They bring a sense of traditional Fall but with a modern, classic twist. Here are a few of my favorite ways to incorporate them at your next event or family gathering. Indulge!

Rebecca has been a friend of mine for years despite the fact that we live about 6 hours away from one another and only see each other once a year if we are lucky! Needless to say I was thrilled when she asked me to assist her with decorations for her son Liam’s first birthday with an All American Baseball Party theme. I was not going to be able to make the trip for the party itself and therefore was going to miss out on transporting, setting up and styling the decorations…hence the “Party in A Box” concept was born! I am thrilled with the way that everything came out. This concept is currently being developed but stay tuned for it to formally be added to the list of services that I offer my clients.

Happy Birthday Lil’ Slugger!

For the past two weeks I have been crafting in the morning, crafting in the evening and somehow crafting in between the crafting while I have been gearing up for Liam James Williams All American Baseball 1st Birthday Party!

Can’t wait to share more, but for now here’s a little sneak peak!

All American Baseball 1st Birthday Party, Event Design, Party Decor

It’s three fifteen AM on a summer Saturday morning and my husband’s alarm clock is going off… “Time to start the fire..” he said. After a quick cup of coffee we were outside in the predawn stillness of the mountain air opening coolers and bags of charcoal….Today was our Hog Roast.

By four forty-five the coals were ready, apple wood smoke was perfuming the air and the pit was up to temperature. At 5am the lid was closed and our Hog was nestled in for an eight hour smoke.

We love BBQ so last year we had our first Annual Hog Roast. It was a great way to enjoy food and friends and summer time and provided a nice non-holiday gathering of the families. And, it was a party for me to style and decorate and design…this year would be no different.

For starters, I designed invitations in photoshop which I had printed from Overnight Prints. I went for a postcard design with directions to the venue on one side. It is important to get your invitations in the mail early…everyone is so busy these days you need to give folks time to block off the time.

Next up, I made a rustic sign to help guide guests to where everything was going to be at the venue.

After that I designed some simple utensil packets for the guests. These packets were a great, easy to do project and really made an impact.

Lastly, many kids were going to be at the party(summertime afternoon BBQ and all) so a self -serve candy bar was in order. This bar was huge hit…please don’t send me the dental bills!
